Back to Reality

Just got back home from our week vacation in Florida.  Why do vacations always go by too quickly?!  We had a lovely time beaching, relaxing, and of course, the highlight of our trip was going to Walt Disneyworld - Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekends!  A detailed post (with pictures) will be up tomorrow!  But right now I have to rest from our week of resting and mentally prepare myself for going back to class tomorrow (blah) ! :)

Happy Memorial Day!

Snippy Snips

I'm very low maintenance when it comes to hair care.  While most women routinely go get their highlights or trim off their split ends, I just grow my hair out until I'm sick of it.  And then I get it chopped off and donate it if it is long enough.

Well my experience with getting my hair cut for donation has been this:  The stylist puts my hair in a low ponytail, cuts off the ponytail just above the hair tie, brush it down, trim off any stranglers, hairspray and done.  Some places give you the cut for free if you donate, while some still just take your $20-40 bucks.

Now doesn't the above process seem foolproof for anyone who can cut a straight line?  That's what I thought.  So I decided that when it was time, I would just do a home-job and cut my own hair to save money and feel special.  Well since it is getting hotter here I figured it was a good time to make the chop.

So on Sunday, Matt served as my personal stylist as I nervously handed him the scissors.  He carefully snipped off my ponytail and VOILA!  A messy less than perfect A-line bob!  But I'm ok with the looks kinda sassy :)

Intergalactic Star Wars Day!

Fellow nerds know that today was Intergalactic Star Wars Day - May the Fourth be with you!!  In honor of this geeky holiday, Matt and I began a marathon of all the Star Wars movies, starting with the original trilogy, then moving on to the prequel trilogy.  We didn't start until about noon, so we are currently just finishing up Episode I: The Phantom Menace...but it's ok that we are just getting to the prequels now when technically today is now May 5th, or Revenge of the Fifth :)

In addition to our movie marathon, we sported Star Wars tee-shirts.  Matt wore his AT-AT or @@ Walker shirt, and I wore a rebel alliance shirt that I freezer paper stenciled.

We also had a coloring page bonanza, much thanks to the free downloads offered on the Star Wars website and some googling, and we added some fun captions. (click on the photo to enlarge so you can read the captions!)

Part of the reason why our marathon is going to run til late tonight/early morning is that we had to go to church for our Wednesday night service.  On these nights, Matt leads the youth group in a time of praise and worship, and then a small lesson.  Well in honor of today's festivities, I convinced him to do a lesson on Christian themes in Star Wars.  We wrote up a little lesson plan and had fun convincing the young teens that Star Wars IS cool.  You can find our lesson HERE.

Hope you had a very Happy Star Wars Day!!!
